ART/Body Balancing Sessions with Michael Scottnicki RMT

20min Sessions (Minor corrections, involving 2-4 body parts) 40min Sessions (Major corrections, full body)

ART is used in conjunction with Myofascial Release, Joint Manipulation,Graston’s Technique and Muscle Energy Techniques to achieve balance in the body. The sessions are short in manner, and involve continuous assessment and correction. The purpose in this is so that the mind and body can process the change and not overload the system with too much information at once. Gym attire is highly recommended (Sports bra/Shorts) so that correction during the treatment can be confirmed and that freedom of movement can occur.

Active Release Therapy (ART), also called Active Release Technique, is a non-invasive manual therapy technique that works to correct soft tissue restrictions that cause pain and mobility issues. The goal is to break down scar tissue and adhesions in order to optimize function in the body.

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a soft tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Common treatments that MFR can help resolve are; Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee and elbow issues are just a few conditions that MFR can provide relief for.

The Graston Technique is a patented form of  manual therapy  that uses stainless steel tools to perform muscle mobilizations. Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a form of manual therapy which uses a muscle’s own energy in the form of gentle isometric contractions to relax the muscles via autogenic or reciprocal inhibition and lengthen the muscle.

When he is not practicing registered massage therapy, Michael’s activities include weight training, running, snow shoeing, and cycling in the beautiful Vancouver area. Michael strongly believes that physical activity is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, and that a combination of massage therapy and therapeutic exercise is an excellent way to stay healthy for everyday living.
