Maya Bleiler, BHK, RMT

Maya Bleiler is Bachelor of Human Kinetics
Registered Massage Therapist
Craniosacral & Visceral Therapy
Human anatomy, movement, and healing have always interested Maya. It started during her youth as an obsession with playing sports and on the sidelines where she could be found taping sprained ankles and bandaging the blisters of her teammates. Over time, Maya’s education came to reflect these interests: a degree in Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology from the University of British Columbia in 1996 and a Diploma of Massage Therapy from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1997.
As a Registered Massage Therapist, Maya was guided by some wonderful mentors into her current practice of Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Nerve & brain manipulation. She was intrigued by the effectiveness of these techniques on her own injuries and health and felt compelled to learn more about them. Over the years she has taken many many courses in these areas mostly from the Upledger Institute, Barral Institute, and Chikly Institute and continues to be a lifelong student.
Maya has developed a way of working with the body that uses specific assessment methods in order to locate and unravel key bound structures and then to apply supportive techniques to integrate the changes with the rest of the body. The techniques focus on the connective tissues that surround or are invested in the brain, spinal cord, nerves, organs, blood vessels, bones and muscles. There is more freedom of movement, improved circulation, less irritability and generally more ease. This allows the function of the body systems to improve and the body can begin to heal itself.
The range of patients Maya often works with reflect the experiences in her personal life… newborns & children, brain & spine trauma, and people who want to feel better able to perform in sports, work, or the day to day adventures of life.
Maya’s practice has evolved over the past 24 years, influenced by her professional experience as a former clinic instructor at WCCMT, student mentor, and former clinic owner of Yaletown Massage Therapy. However, she always returns to her most profound teachers, her patients, who inspire the curiosity and compassion essential to this work.
Maya believes everybody has a story to tell and she looks forward to hearing yours.
