Naturopathic Treatment Methods
Our naturopathic clinic in Vancouver offers a variety of natural treatment options to meet any patient’s needs:
Orthomolecular Medicine
Orthomolecular Medicine is a system of naturopathic treatment involving the use of substances natural to the body (vitamins, minerals etc.) to create optimum health, restore balance or treat deficiency. Orthomolecular Medicine has become very prevalent as the foods we eat have become increasingly deficient in nutrients.
Botanical Medicine
Botanical Medicine is the use of plants or plant extracts for the naturopathic treatment of illness and disease. It is the oldest form of healthcare and incorporates knowledge of the historical uses of plants as well as modern pharmacological mechanisms.
Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a system of addressing illness based on the administration of minute doses of chosen curative substances. Homeopathy is very safe and is an excellent choice for infants, children and patients who are on multiple prescriptions.
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
Acupuncture is based on the belief that living beings have energy, known as qi (pronounced “chi”), which circulates through meridians in the body. Each meridian correlates to a different organ system. If this system of energy flow becomes imbalanced disease symptoms will emerge. To restore balance practitioners employ acupuncture and/or curative herbs.
Dietary Counselling
Dietary Counselling is a joint effort between the naturopath practitioner and patient that enables patients to reach informed decisions about their dietary health and nutritional status. It may involve guidance into food sensitivity, dietary treatment of illness or cleansing/detoxification.
Counselling and Health Psychology
Counselling and Health Psychology are extremely important naturopathic tools in helping to explore and address the mental and emotional sides of health concerns because physical symptoms can present as a result of underlying mental and emotional factors.
Physical Medicine
Physical Medicine includes soft tissue work, spinal manipulations, orthopedic assessment and treatment, exercise prescription and hydrotherapy. Physical Medicine is an effective treatment for many health concerns, especially when combined with other forms of treatment.
