As long as there’s been civilization, there’s been massage therapy. Massage therapy has thought to be practiced for around 5000 years, as it is referenced in Ayurvedic, Chinese, Greek and Roman texts. One famous person who has been recorded to have had massage therapy is Julius Caesar, known for his neuralgia.

In the mid-1850’s, the idea of massage therapy was revived and used to treat many conditions. It declined in the 1930’s and 40’s, as people turned to modern medicine, but with the advent of the 1970’s, quickly became popular again to treat athletes and people with chronic pain conditions.

Nowadays, massage therapy is used to treat a number of illness and many employers include the coverage of massage therapy in their health benefits. Whether you are looking to relieve stress and anxiety or chronic pain, whether you have a sports injury or are looking for pre- or post-natal relief, massage therapy can help treat a variety of conditions.
