Stressed Out?

Vancouver Massage Therapy Article of the Week

How stressed out are you? Does it fluctuate? Is it chronic? It is important to identify stress levels, what gets you to that point, and how to manage it. Chronic stress can manifest itself in many ways and affect our lives physically, emotionally, mentally, physiologically- if we can learn to manage stress to stay away from that place, why not?

HealthLinkBC has introduced an interactive online tool to help you assess where your stress level is at. You may not even realize you are under stress, or have chosen to disregard it. Being more aware of the things and events that effect us allows us to act appropriately. Check out the online tool here- What is your stress level?

Depending on your level of stress, there are a variety of outlets for relief. Massage therapy is a great resource. Not many people can say that they’ve had a massage that left them more stressed out than when they started! In addition to being in a place of calm and having any tension worked away, a massage can also stimulate the production of serotonin. Serotonin is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to regulate mood, appetite and sleep- all things that can be a little off kilter when we are under stress.

Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) Chiropractic care, as practiced by Dr. Patterson at Broadway Wellness,  also provides relief to those who have a tendency to internalize stress. Stress can develop patterns throughout our nervous system that perpetuate the stressed state. Working on re-setting the central nervous system through the spine can help to alleviate chronic stress symptoms.

Broadway Wellness is a Vancouver Massage Therapy clinic, a Vancouver Naturopathic Medicine clinic, and a Vancouver Chiropractic Care clinic focusing on Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) care in particular. The multi-disciplinary nature of clinic allows our clients access to all these complementary therapies under one roof! Please feel free to contact the clinic if you have any questions, or book your appointment online.
