Seeing the True Facts in Health News

The media has to use catchy phrases in order to gain the readers’ attention. If the headline is boring, it’s not likely that you are going to want to read the rest of the article! That being said, sometimes the more attractive looking story tend to err on the dramatic side of things. You can’t always take a story verbatim and label it 100% true without looking into the details- especially when it comes to your health.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH)- an agency responsible for biomedical and health related research- has put up an article in the hope of guiding us to the true facts in health news. NIH publishes full research papers in their database, but the media isn’t putting a scientific journal article in the news. They’ve recommended some important things to look for when reading the news! Read the article here: How to read health news.
Like they say, “knowledge is power,” but you want to make sure your knowledge contains the true facts.
