Protein Packed Alternatives to Meat

With a trend turning towards more vegetables and less animal product, many people are asking the question- where will I get my daily protein? Our society has come to equate protein with animal meat, plain and simple, as our primary source of protein. This doesn’t have to be the case, as there is substantial protein content in a number of plant-based products.

The “meatless Monday” movement doesn’t have to be the only time and the only reason to put down the steak knife and dig into some plant proteins. There are so many options that you are probably getting more protein that you know already!

For example:

  • 1 avocado = 10 grams of protein
  • 1 cup cooked sweet potato = 5 grams of protein
  • 1 cup of lentils = 18 grams of protein
