Intuitively you already know that it may benefit you to explore minimally invasive approaches, such as massage and other forms of therapy, to resolve physical pain symptoms, before moving toward more invasive solutions such as surgery. The link below takes you to an amazing story in which craniosacral therapy helps a 14 year old boy avoid surgery, and resolve his constant headaches.

What is craniosacral therapy? It is based on a natural rhythm produced by the body. As cranio- means head, and –sacral refers to the base of the spine, this therapy focuses on everything in between including the brain and spinal cord. This portion of the anatomy is enveloped in craniosacral fluid and emanates a rhythmic pulse similar to your blood pressure. Sensitive hands- like those of a craniosacral therapist- can detect restrictions in the central nervous system and its surrounding areas through the rhythm of this pulse. Craniosacral therapy has been successful in treating a number of conditions including migraine and tension headaches, ear infections and related conditions, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, chronic pain, migraine headaches, depression, dyslexia, and temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), as well as, improving overall body functioning.
